HEY!!! It's been awhile...

Hi Friends, remember us??? Were the Harris'!!!! I'm so sorry about abandoning our blog. I am kind of embarrassed that I have not updated in almost 6 months, whoops. Well, anyway, let me try to catch you up. Adelyn turned 1 in March and we celebrated with a pink explosion, she was a bit overwhelmed but it was a good memory. As of April she has been walking everywhere, honestly, I feel like she just started out running. She jabbers all the time, if only we all knew what she was saying, too funny.
As for Adelyn's parents well time is flying by as Spencer just finished or shall I say survived his first year residency and starting into his second, woo hoo!!! Things are good. We are loving our neighborhood, church, friends, and "little miss busy body" also known as Adelyn Day. It's been good to catch up, see you in six months. Ha! Ha! Just kidding, I am going to do better!!!

Laughs, Smiles, Toys and Snow too!!

Yesterday I was fixing dinner and noticed that it was awfully quiet. So I went to find our fearless crawler in a pile of unrolled toilet paper. She loves to shred the paper and then eat it. Oh my, there is no telling all the things that this child has eaten. I try not to freak out and just tell myself that we are building up her immunity :). Shortly after the toilet paper incident I found her once again in the bathroom throwing toilet paper in along with putting her hands in the water...ewww!!
Another funny thing that Adelyn has figured out is taking her baskets off her changing table and sitting on the bottom shelf. Today, she figrued out how to climb off. So she kept climbing on and off over and over, it was quite amusing.
Oh, and we got some snow today. It was big news around here. Some I have put some pictures of Adelyn looking out the window at all the snow.

Good Times

Our little lady is becoming quite entertaining or at least we parents think so anyway...but I guess most parents would say that about their children...right??? Crawling around on the floor with her has become a new pastime of ours. Adelyn thinks it is hilarious when she can chase you around the house and we think it is comical too. Another game we like to play is peek-a-boo. Anytime we sing "Where is Adelyn" she likes to put a basket over her head (see picture below). It is so fascinating to watch her little persoanlity come alive.

Whoa Baby!!!

This past week Adelyn has really come alive and whoa baby, watch out!!! Baby gates are up and outlet covers are in. She has become very mobile, crawling throughout the house. Now ,when I walk into the other room I have a little follower. She has also learned to pull up. So, not only does she follow me to the other room but when we get there she is pulling up and trying to stand on her shaky little legs. It is so much fun, but definitely keeping us busy.
Yesterday in Kindermusik Adelyn was crawling all over the place. I thought to myself, "what happened to the little girl who used to sit quietly on my lap and stare at the other children in amazement?" No more! And katy-bar the doors for she is not intimidated by the other children in the class anymore either. Crawling on the teacher and then quickly followed by one of her ear piercing squeals. Oh, a new phase taking me out of my comfort zone again. I am realizing that kiddos break you in, in a hurry, huh.
This new stage keeps things interesting considering Adelyn has always been ready for the next thing... whatever that may be. And believe me, she does not want to miss anything. Some call it nosey while others call it curious. I'm not sure but "little miss busy body" is always ready to explore and we sure are enjoying this amusing little girl named Adelyn .

True JOY

The other day I read an article called "Unwrapping His Christmas Prescence". The article talks about how we get so caught up in the craziness of the season that we forget the real reason we are celebrating. As I read the article I thought to myself, "Guilty as charged!" Our halls are all decked and the stockings are hung, but did I get so caught up in all the twinkling lights that I missed HIS joy??? While I am busy trying to fulfill my holiday expectations I sometimes seem to forget to experience the true joy of Christmas. As I shared in my last post, I do love Christmas. But, I tend to be a dreamer full of these expectations that can rob my holiday joy. I am reminded so often to check my heart and many times it is not so pretty. Where is all the Christmas cheer I ask? Then I am reminded of "Immanuel"- God with us. While I am busy making six inch ribbon curls the Lord reminds me to let HIS peace and joy light up my holidays, to truly experience HIM. We hope that you too are experiencing HIS joy this season. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

Tis' the Season...

Oh how I love the holiday season. Not only do I love what Christmas stands for but I love the decorations, the music and all the yummy goodies. The tree is up and the Christmas carols are rockin' at the Harris home and I am lovin' it!!! Adelyn seems to like the tree and she probably has "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" memorized. We hope you are enjoying this season too!!

A Tribute to Adelyn's Hair

So, from day one Adelyn's hair has just cracked us up. To say it has a mind of it's own is an understatement. Now that winter is upon us and the air is drier it has made her blond locks even crazier. We never know what it is going to be doing when we go get her out of her crib in the morning. Lately it has been in a perfect mow hawk. So I wanted to just post a few pictures of her hair at it's morning best. We hope it brings a smile to your face too...we love it!!!
